In collaboration with international consultants the firm conducted a Social Impact Assessment on Guyana’s National Sugar Action Plan for the European Commission (EC) in Guyana.
Our duties included:
- Estimating the likely social impacts of the Guyana National Sugar Action Plan at the community, regional, and national levels, expressed in terms of best, most-likely, and worst-case scenarios for key parameters such as employment and household incomes,
- Proposing measures to mitigate any adverse impacts by means of changes to existing laws, regulations, insurance schemes or other safety nets,
- Proposing measures to enhance the benefits of potentially favourable social impacts;
- Examining alternative income generating activities, i.e., via agricultural diversification efforts, small business development, commercial development, and
- Recruiting and training of staff to conduct field survey exercises and the provision of statistical analysis as requested by experts.
